Delaware302 online store helps you wear/display your DE pride
Milton – November 19, 2011 – Are you a proud Delawarean? Whether you were born here, recently relocated or have chosen to attend one of our great First State colleges or Universities, a new online business launching this weekend offers you a variety of ways to publicly display your pride over living in the 302.
Delaware302.com is an online store filled with products that incorporate the State’s area code as a way to promote First State pride. These products include 302 T-shirts for men and 302 Girl T-shirts for ladies, 302 oval stickers and magnets to display your pride vehicles, and special wristbands. The business, launching just in time for the holiday season, is the brainchild of Sussex County residents Phil Wojcik and Andrea Summers.
After seeing his friend’s 302 tattoo which was set against the state’s background, Wojcik realized that there was a market for people, like his friend, who wanted to “represent” the First State. However, both Wojcik and Summers believe that you don’t have to be born here to show your Delaware pride.
“While I was born in Wilmington, and attended high school at Salesianum, my education and career took me from this great state for many years. I was extremely happy for the opportunity to return home. Andrea moved here 17 years ago from Maryland, and together we have fallen in love with our life here and wanted a way to share that in a way that anyone and everyone we come in contact with can see,” said Wojcik. “Delaware302.com is offering us the vehicle for not only us but for hundreds of thousands of other First State residents to do that.” Wojcik said while they’re starting with a small selection of items, they have plans to roll out new designs and new items every 1 – 2 months.
Wojcik used his computer programming background to design the website and online store, and Summers her public information background to market the site primarily via social media platforms Facebook and Twitter.
“We’re going to share unique and interesting fun facts about Delaware on these sites and want people to start sharing with us why they love Delaware,” said Summers. “We truly want to start a conversation with individuals about why this is such an amazing State in which to live.”
In an effort to promote the Facebook page and website, Summers said they’ve also launched a contest to win a Delaware302 prize pack. People can enter by sharing why they are Delaware proud and love living in the 302, and the contest will allow voting American Idol style for the best answer.
Delaware302’s owners also believe in philanthropy but more specifically giving to the local community. A portion of sales each month will be donated to the charity of their choice. The duo’s top picks are the Delaware Food Bank at which Wojcik has volunteered and the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition, which supported Summer’s step sister during her battle with the disease.
