The 302 Nation

It has been a while since I have posted a blog, due largely to all of the great activity that has been going on. The most important being my marriage to the love of my life, and my business partner, Andrea. It has been a whirlwind summer so far in our great little state of Delaware, and there is so much more to come.

Today I wanted to reflect back on the last year, since my company is coming up on the 1 year anniversary of our formation.  It has been a busy year for us, with the launch of our 302 store (www.de302.com), our 302 Beaches information site (www.302beaches.com), and the launch of our 302 Business Services (www.302businessservices.com), which is geared to helping small businesses build their internet and social media presence.

We have also noticed a change in our state, and the way businesses and politicians are promoting themselves, since we launched Delaware 302 – using the state’s area code as the symbol of pride in our state. It is the one single thing all of us Delawareans have in common. It crosses age, race, religion, political party, creed, social status, and every other boundary that you can imagine. We all live in the 302. In essence, we are the 302 Nation.

This spirit has seemed to catch on recently, and is growing at an amazing pace. There was the launch of a new magazine recently called 302 Health, and one of our local papers launched a new section called 302 Do, which is a listing of events in our state.

Even the politicians and state offices are using 302 in their speeches and releases, with one of the most recent and notable quotes coming from Senator Brian Bushweller – “302 jobs in Kent County is a huge number”. This quote was in a press release from the Delaware Tourism Office in regards to the new sports complex that is to be built in Kent County. 302 jobs was also mentioned earlier in the release:

“The Greater Dover Committee and Kent County Levy Court resubmitted their application before the Delaware Infrastructure Investment Committee Tuesday in Dover to have the complex built on a parcel of county-donated land near Frederica. Committee members stated that their application qualified for the New Jobs Infrastructure Fund because it created a projected economic impact of more than $18 million annually and the creation of 302 jobs in Kent County.”

We are ecstatic that such a simple concept for a standard of pride, conceived by a native born Delawarean, has become a rally point and sign of solidarity for Delaware. It binds us together, unites us under the 302 banner, and promotes us as a whole.

About delaware302
Delaware 302 is more than an online clothing store. It's about giving Delawareans a way to express their pride about being from, or even just living in, the First State. Whether you're wearing it or displaying it on your vehicle - let the world see you are Delaware proud. But you don't have to be born here to "represent" the 302.
